Newest commission of a realistic tiger partial for a commissioner over on FA. Everything made by myself. Features: Blue LED resin eyes Balaclava and foam construction Latex nose Top and bottom jaw set with detailed tongue Moving jaw Over 90 hand installed whiskers *new* form fit neck with hidden zipper (Probably will be doing this neck from now on) Resin claws on hand paws and feet paws (the claws on the toes clink on the floor when you walk! ^^) Black Fleece paw pads on the hands Parade sole (Floor mat or whatever its called) bottom shoes (lined on the inside) Custom Airbrushing on all parts SUPER long custom airbrushed, extra swishy, super awesome tail.
One of my favorites so far, I really enjoyed making this one. I have decided however i will no longer be making realistic heads in the foam method any longer. I will be doing only resin for those as it is much easier. Toony heads will be saved for that! I am closed for commissions at the moment, but if you are interested in getting a quote from me feel free to contact!
TL;DR: Really awesome fur suit with lots of features. Will no longer do realistic heads in foam. Not open for commissions atm, quotes are open however.
note to self: skinny jeans aren't the best when wearing paws... xD
You need a lot more practice before doing commissions. I say this not to be mean, but because sometimes when a commissioner gets a cheap suit, they'll look at it later and be unhappy with it. The face needs to be more symmetrical. I suggest ALWAYS using a reference, in fact multiple references from different angles will really help you. It's even better if when you're carving the foam, you have a fresh set of eyes look at it, so they can let you know of imperfections. Same goes for your stripes. They look...tilted (I guess is the right word) even when your head is straight. Stripes aren't exactly symmetrical on a real tiger, but they ARE patterned in a parallel fashion, meaning that if you continue the lines, they won't touch. With airbrushing, less is more. Like the inner ear- that would look a lot better if you would have just put black fur in there. Same goes for a lot of places. I'm not saying to sew in the stripes, but in big areas, it's best to sew in black fur. It gives it a darker, more realistic look. Just get actual claws. Here it looks like you airbrushed them on. Again, less is more. I don't say any of this to be mean. I say it to help you. You say you will be switching to resin heads? Will you make the molds yourself, or just buy them? Buying them is fine, but you'll never be at your full potential if you don't practice, and learn, and make the molds yourself. I totally suggest carving/making them yourself. It's a good skill to have in the fur suiting world. Your feet, hands, and tail look AWESOME. I'm not even kidding. The striping on them is good, the proportion is good, and the pads look nice. Less. Whiskers. The same thing goes for this as the airbrushing; less is more. A real tiger may have tons of whiskers, but they look goofy on a suit if you over-do it.
Yes I will be sculpting molds. I will be doing toony style in foam, but not until I've worked out all the kinks. Thank you for the critique, I actually really appreciate it. I agree on the whiskers, a mistake I won't make again...
I tried to get critiques on the formwork before on live journal, but no one answered so i assumed it was okay, i did get a critique from my friend on a part and ended up fixing that, guess ill be more persistent in the future. umm.. tilted? not sure what you mean? explain maybe?
I mean tilted as in the stripes look like they're skewered diagonal. Think of a straight ruler, then tilt it a little. If that makes it any better. I try to give critiques in a nice, in depth way. Most of the time people just take it the wrong way though. Ever need one, come to me. ^^ I can help.
Yeah thanks, I think people take it the wrong way because people can type it out to sound nasty... :/ text is too easily misinterpreted... haha I certainly will thank you again.
